Service 01

Cylinder head service

Pressure testing, resurfacing, valve jobs and guide work for cracked, warped or leaking heads.

A blown head gasket, milky oil or a cylinder that will not hold compression usually ends up here. We strip the head, clean it, and pressure test it before quoting anything, so you find out whether it is worth saving before you spend money on parts.

From there the work can include resurfacing the deck flat, a three-angle valve job, replacing guides and seals, and checking for cracks. The head goes back to you measured, cleaned and ready to torque down.

Service 02

Engine block machining

Boring, honing, decking and align honing for rebuilds and performance builds.

Block work is measured work. We check bore, taper and deck flatness first, then machine only what the block actually needs - boring and honing to your piston sizes, decking the surface square, and align honing the main bores when the numbers call for it.

Whether it is a daily-driver rebuild or a build you are putting real power through, you get the measurements with the block so your engine builder knows exactly what they are assembling.

Service 03

Crankshaft & flywheel work

Crank grinding and polishing, flywheel and pressure plate resurfacing.

Spun a bearing or found scoring on the journals? We inspect the crank, grind and polish to the next undersize where it can be saved, and tell you plainly when a replacement is the smarter spend.

We also resurface flywheels and flexplates while the transmission is out - a cheap step that keeps a fresh clutch from chattering a month after you install it.

Service 04

Engine rebuilding & installation

Full teardown, machine work, assembly and installation for tired or failed engines.

When an engine is burning oil, knocking or worn out, we handle the whole job in one place: teardown, inspection, the machine work it needs, and reassembly with the right clearances.

Because the machining and the wrench work happen under one roof, nothing gets lost between two shops - and there is one phone number to call if you have a question about your build.

Service 05

Rotor & drum turning, press work

Brake rotor and drum resurfacing, wheel bearing and axle press work, ball joints and bushings.

Pulsing brake pedal or a groove you can feel through the wheel? We turn rotors and drums on the lathe when there is enough material left, and tell you when they are past minimum thickness and better replaced.

The press handles the rest of the chassis work: wheel bearings, axle shafts, ball joints and control arm bushings pressed in and out without wrecking the housing around them.

Service 06

General auto repair

Diagnostics, cooling system, timing belts, clutches and drivability repairs.

Not every car that comes in needs machine work. We handle everyday San Diego repairs too - overheating and cooling system faults, timing belt and water pump service, clutch replacement, oil leaks, and check-engine diagnostics.

If a repair turns out to be the front end of a bigger engine problem, you are already at the shop that can do the machine work, so you are not towing the car a second time.

Service 07

Auto parts & machine shop supplies

Gasket sets, bearings, rings, valvetrain parts and hardware for your build.

We supply the parts that go with the machining: gasket sets, bearings, rings, valves, springs, seals and fasteners sized to the measurements we just took off your engine.

Building it yourself? Bring your parts list and your specs. We will tell you what matches the machining and what is going to fight you during assembly.

Don’t see your job listed?

Machine shop work varies engine to engine. Call and describe what you have - we’ll tell you whether it’s something we do.
