A San Diego machine shop that still answers its own phone

Quality Auto Machine works out of 7865 Raytheon Rd, San Diego, CA 92111, in the light-industrial pocket of Kearny Mesa where most of the county’s real machine work has always happened. Heads, blocks, cranks and flywheels come across the bench here every week - some from drivers, some from other repair shops that don’t have the equipment in house.

What makes the shop useful to San Diego drivers is the combination: machining and repair in the same building. If we pull a head and find the deck is warped, we don’t have to ship it out and wait - it moves twenty feet to the surfacer. That’s fewer days without your car and fewer people to chase for an answer.

We measure before we quote. If an engine is past saving we say so, and if a repair is smaller than you feared we say that too. Machine work is precise by nature, and the way we talk about it should be as well.
